I was told about a dating service that had a different approach than the rest, or at least that was their claim. I am not an expert regarding these services so I cannot say whether their claim is justifiable or not. Regardless, the main part of their advertisement consisted of the fact that the patrons of their dating service were meticulously screened and in fact the current membership had to vote in new applicants. It was not easy to become a using member of the dating service, and they claimed that because of this the members were sort of the 'cream of the crop'. They even guaranteed that they could match you with someone you were happy with within five attempts. In other words, if after your fifth date with someone from their dating service you still found yourself not happy with anyone you had met through them, they would give you the next five dates for free.

My ex-wife had actually suggested that I try the service, as she was first quite confident that I would be admitted and second also confident that I would meet someone that I could have a nice time with. Apparently, she had tried the service herself although she didn't come right out and say that. She paid for my application fee before I could even agree to it, so I was sort of 'heavily persuaded' to participate. She meant well, and I knew she was doing it only out of concern for my lonliness, so I went along with it although I was more than skeptical about the whole thing. I assumed I didn't have much to lose, however, since I spent most of my evenings in front of the television, bored and lonely.

The first date that I had through the service, was just ok. I cannot comment on it much because it was very short. I was actually more interested in the woman that she was with me. Apparently she was a pro at this and had 5 different dates a week with 5 different people. The next date was a little bit more fulfilling, and the woman was very sweet and innocent which is a quality that I can appreciate. We had a nice night, and went to a local dance hall which was a bit too loud for my taste although I tried to pretend to have a good time. The most surprising and fulfilling date however, happened to be with my ex-wife. Perhaps we were meant to be together, although I'm not sure she would agree.
