How many of you have seen monkeys swinging from branch to branch? Have you ever looked closely at them? Well, I have and I think they are so darn cute. Monkeys are my favorite animal. Being I lived near a zoo, I asked one of the zoo keepers if I could help out and maybe earn some extra money. He sent me to place to fill out an application and talk to another gentleman, and I got the high five signal.

I started right away, the minute I got hired. Well, my first job was to go into this cage with one single monkey in it. Her name is Letta. She was just swinging from one vine to the next one. If you sit there and watch her carefully, she had each stroke down to do it the same over and over. Some people say you can learn a lot from a monkey. But, I still say they are cute.

My job was to take care of Letta because she was expecting her first baby in about 2 weeks. I was sitting on this rock and was just watching her swinging to this tree, to this tree, and so on. She climbed down from the tree and came over to me. She was trying to talk to me and put her hand on her belly and was rubbing it. It was like in a stroke motion. What did she want me to do, stroke her belly cause she was having a labor pain, or stroke her back to scratch it?

She finally gave me a big hug and was rubbing my nose. Letta has some strong arms, I guess that is what you would call them. Then she let go and walked away. Again, she walked back to me and gave me another hug. For some reason, she is not acting right. I wonder if she could be in labor, as us humans would call it.

So I called my boss over to check her out. He called Letta by her name and she came right over to him. He picked her up and looked at her tummy and he started rubbing her tummy. In return, Letta gave him a hug. He told me she is in labor, and wanting some affection. Oh wow, I am going to witness a monkey being born. I know she will be as cute as her mother is.
